MAINTENANCE TECH [TRAINEE]

The Grafton Hotel is looking for a Maintenance trainee to join the team. The Hotel is a fun and friendly place to work, focused on the wellbeing and happiness of the team. Benefits include bonus scheme, employer pension contributions, regular team parties, regular voucher giveaways & gifts (staff massages this month) and social events such as horse racing to football tournaments. The ideal candidate will be someone that wants to learn the skills to become a future Hotel Maintenance Manager. We are passionate about treating everyone with respect and fairness, no matter of position or seniority. The position is at a 128 bedroom hotel in Dublin City. The Grafton Hotel is a busy 4 star hotel servicing both corporate and leisure guests.

This is an opportunity to receive on-the-job training in all phases of hotel maintenance: painting, plastering, repairing appliances, communications, carpet cleaning, minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. If a candidate already has experience in a particular skill, it is an advantage but is not required. We are looking for a great attitude and willingness to work as well as a quick learner.

Eventually, this individual may have the potential to be a maintenance technician.

A Maintenance Technician requires a diverse mix of both hard and soft skills, particularly manual labour skills, including:

  • Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems
  • Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity
  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
  • Grounds keeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
  • Understand the company’s policy on work shifts, guest’s possessions and privacy issues

The trainee will be taught the above from scratch and would suit an individual that is looking to learn a trade in a growing industry that is crying out for maintenance employees. Qualifications are not needed but a strong desire to learn and develop is important.
